Genre: Poetry
Author: Marilyn Singer

Major Awards: No major awards found for this book
Age group: 6 to 9
Summary:
This book contains a collection of reverso poems. These types of poems flip their meanings or perspectives once the original poem is flipped and you read the new poem from bottom to top. This particular collection of poems from Marilyn Singer were created based on original children tales, such as Aladdin, Golden Goose, and The Little Mermaid. These poems show two different perspectives from two characters of the tails. For example, the Aladdin poem, shows the different perspectives from Aladdin not wanting to be poor and the Ginny no longer wanting to be a slave to lords.
Evaluation:
An appropriate grade level for this book would be 1st to 4th grade because the format of the poems can be a little too confusing for younger students. The illustrations of this book were perfectly organized to properly show both sides of the perspectives of the poem. I would definitely use this book because it is a fun challenging way to be able to read poems. Also, the stories that she uses in her book are familiar stories for these students, therefore they will find it interesting to see the both sides of the stories. I can picture myself using this book in a lesson where we are creating our own reverso poems. By this time, the students would be very knowledgeable with punctuations, therefore, I will highlight the importance of what happens when you change the punctuation in a sentence.
